The CDRR game is the first of two games Capcom made for the Nintendo Entertainment System.

Game

In one player mode, you can choose to either play Chip or Dale while in two player mode, player one is always Chip and player two always Dale (there's no gameplay difference between them).

The game is a typical jump'n'run game. Move through the various levels (some of them are optional) while avoiding the enemies or attack them with crates which you can pick up and throw around. Sometimes you can find special objects like a boat or a hammer, but these usually just appear in a single level.

You can also hide in crates, and if you play a two player game, Chip and Dale can perform a special throw, which isn't really all that useful but a nice detail nonetheless.

The other Rangers only have very minor roles. Gadget usually gives clues at the end of a level, Monty brakes holes into walls during a cheese attack and Zipper can make you invincible.

From time to time, you'll have to fight a boss at the end of a level, the final boss being, of course, Fat Cat.

Story

The story is not the most creative ever. Fat Cat creates a diversion in form of robotic dogs roaming the city to capture Gadget. Chip and Dale go on a mission to save her and to teach Fat Cat a lesson.

Trivia

  • Though Professor Nimnul doesn't make an in-game appearance, some of his inventions that are known from the cartoon are enemies in the game, like the robotic dogs (from Catteries Not Included)
  • Fat Cat is not only huge, he also attacks with a cigar.
  • There is a sequel to this game, also for the NES.
