2008 Golden Screw-Nut Awards
The 2008 Golden Screw-Nut Awards ceremonies took place on April 12, 2009, starting at ca. 5:00 PM GMT.
Some important changes were made compared to the previous ceremony. From now on, the eligible works were limited to one year. Also, the categories 'All-Time Best' and 'Legend of the Fandom' were dropped since it was decided that there's no use of awarding them every year and that they'll probably be reintroduced with five years time span. Instead the new category, 'Rangerphile of the Year', was introduced, as well as a separate category for best translation of foreign fanfics or comics into Russian to promote the work of those who help to bridge the gap between foreign and Russian-speaking communities and make the famous foreign works available to broader audience.
Prize banners and diplomas were made by DeLTa, Andy Panda and Gyrotank.
The text part of the ceremony was written by DTZ, Gyrotank, Montery Jack and Silent Shadow. This time the storyline revolved around Rescue Rangers' coming back to Earth from their fifteen years long journey which started when the series were removed from syndication. When their ship, Glomar Explorer-6, enters Earth's orbit, they connect to the Internet and found out everything about their fans and their works so they decide to award the prominent Rangerphiles and take the last year's Golden Screw-Nut Awards as the example. The works are processed, the orbital teleportation beam adjusted and prepared to deliver the winners to the orbit and back, and the show starts...
