Also Known As: Talon Garnock, Andy AKA MOnty [sic], Robonerd
About
Andrew Bell was a regular poster at the Acorn Café message board who authored the unfinished story "The Service", a sequel to the controversial series of stories by Megan Brunner (Mooncrystal).
Andrew himself was a New Yorker who worked in the garment industry for many years. The building where he worked was apparently in the same area as the World Trade Centre towers and Andy reportedly suffered health problems after being exposed to the dust cloud resulting from the destruction of the towers on 11th September 2001. He continued to post messages at the Acorn Café and to work on his story, although he had been understandably affected by the experience.
Sadly, Andrew passed away on 11th August 2003, after a brief stay in hospital.

The Service
First Released: 29/03/02 on FanFiction.net [1].
Title Reference: The service in question is the army.
Part of Series: Andrew stated on his website that he had gained permission from Megan Brunner (Mooncrystal) to write a sequel to her own series of fan stories. This makes "The Service" a direct follow-on from her last story, "Little Ranger Blue".
Length: The version on FanFiction.net [2] is 45088 words long. Other versions may exist.
Rating: PG-13 (Note: Andrew rated it T for Teenage on FanFiction.net.)
Synopsis
Following controversial events in "Little Ranger Blue" Chip and Gadget have broken off their relationship. Chip is broken-hearted. A chance encounter with an army recruitment officer leads him to make a difficult decision. He leaves the Rescue Rangers and joins the army. Gadget pursues him in an attempt to change his mind, but arrives only after his ship has sailed.
The story ends abruptly on a cliffhanger at the end of chapter three. Andrew had stated that he was using the Jean-Claude Van Damme film "Legionnaire" (1998) as a template for his story, so presumably the rest of the story would have followed the plot of the film.
