==Synopsis==
Watching the loud and flashy nightlife near their home tree, both [[Chip]] and [[Dale]] that they aren't interested in any of it. Instead, they go to bed.

Chip lies awake until it's certain enough that Dale is asleep. When he sees his friend sleepwalk out of the room, he stands up and takes off his nightgown underneath which he wears a swallowtail. From under his pillow, he retrieves a love letter from a certain [[Clarice]] who wants him to come meet her at the [[Acorn Club]]. He dons a top hat and leaves the place, heading for the Acorn Club.

Dale meanwhile is only pretending to be sleepwalking to get out of the room and out of Chip's sight, in case his friend would still be awake. Then he removes his own nightgown under which he is already dressed up, too, and produces a second letter from Clarice.

On the way to the Acorn Club, the two chipmunks meet once, but although they look nothing like each other, they mistake each other for their own mirror image. They enter the Acorn Club within seconds, unseen by each other.

Chip is the first to arrive in front of Clarice's dressing room. Dale finds him there mere seconds later. The two begin to argue, but they stop when the door opens and Clarice calls them. They pay most of their attention to her from then on, not noticing that they're being pranked by their respective friend, much to Clarice's amusement, until she is called to stage.

From a table right in front of the stage, Chip and Dale thoroughly enjoy Clarice and her performance as she sings "My Destiny" and show some more of their cartoonish antics. After a while, Chip gets up, places himself behind a vacant, rodent-sized grand piano and begins to play along with the music, eventually catching Clarice's attention as he switches styles from slow easy-listening jazz to boogie-woogie. Out of jealousy, Dale grabs an upright bass made from a pencil and a matchbox, and the two 'munks play a "duel" for Clarice's affection on their instruments. Clarice reacts accordingly: She kisses them both on their cheeks.

The cartoon ends with both Chip and Dale singing and playing along with Clarice, performing a second song, "Little Girl."

==Trivia==
Of all classic Chip 'n Dale cartoons, ''Two Chips and a Miss'' is the only one which both hints at a hidden rodent society and features rodents in clothes. One could say that it is much closer to ''Chip 'n Dale Rescue Rangers'' than to the other classic cartoons in which the two chipmunks annoy Donald Duck or Pluto, hence "Episode Zero."

Although it premiered about 36 years before ''Chip 'n Dale Rescue Rangers'', ''Two Chips and a Miss'' has been referenced in ''CDRR'' [[fan fiction]] numerous times, using various methods to bridge the time gap.
* In ''[[Of Mice and Mayhem]]'', [[Monterey Jack]] and a friend of his take over the Acorn Club from [[Rat Capone]] after the [[Rescue Rangers]] put him out of business. Chip and Dale reunite the old trio which used to perform there for occasional gigs. The third member is a drummer; Clarice is never mentioned.
* ''[[First Date]]'' relocates the events of ''Two Chips and a Miss'' into the 1980s without changing anything else. ''[[Diamonds In The Desert]]'' has Chip and Dale meet Clarice again in Las Vegas where she has her own show.

''Two Chips and a Miss'' itself parodies Tex Avery's cult cartoon ''Red Hot Riding Hood'' by replacing the namesake character with Clarice and the wolf with Chip and Dale, especially obvious when the two 'munks are shown with drooling wolf faces.

According to this cartoon, Chip can play the piano, and Dale can play the upright bass. Also, unlike the upright in ''[[Adventures in Squirrelsitting]]'', the grand piano at the Acorn Club does not sound like a toy—nor does the one off-screen which accompanies Clarice at first.

The city Chip and Dale live in appears to be New York City, further fueling discussions about the [[Rescue Rangers' hometown]].

Viewing "Episode Zero" is established EuroRangerCon tradition, also because every EuroRangerCon so far has been attended by [[CD]].
