About

Michael Demcio is one of the most famous Rangerphiles ever, yet he is famous mainly for one single creation. And that is Rhyme And Reason, the predecessor of hundreds of Ranger fanfics published online. During his time on the Usenet from October 1997 to May 1998, he used the handle RRQUEST or Questy. There are no reports of him ever being an Acorn Cafe patron.

Fan Fiction

Rhyme And Reason

First released: Rhyme And Reason is thought to be the first CDRR fan fiction and perhaps even the first fan fiction based on a cartoon series ever available to the public. The story was finished on December 6, 1995, and released in Where the Fun Begins from (need date) to (need date). The first (was DAFT earlier or later?) online release was done by Michael A. Crawley on the Usenet on April 17, 1996, but limited to Part I.

Title reference: The title references to recurring elements of the story such as Ivana M. Killjoy's rhyming hints.

Part of series: This story can stand alone, although Demcio later penned a lesser-known sequel, Soul Searching.

Length: 158,492 words (the whole work)

Rating: PG (raise that in case it's too graphic)

Synopsis

On his birthday, Chip gets frustrated about never having the chance to deal with cases as big as those of his role model, Sureluck Jones. He wishes for a really big and tough case—and his wish is granted in a way he would never have expected it. A mysterious villain named Ivana M. Killjoy kidnaps the other Rescue Rangers, torments them, using her vast knowledge about every single Ranger, and gives Chip rhyming hints to retrieve them. He is given time until sunset after which Ivana threatens to kill his friends.
