About

Loneheart is a long-time contributor to the Acorn Café message board. He is believed to have become a part of the fan community in 1997 when a previous incarnation of the message board was hosted on Inside The Web. He joined the current version of the Acorn Café in June 2005. His bio on that board lists him as a resident of Sussex in the United Kingdom and gives writing fiction under interests. The bio on his homepage describes him as a single thirty-something, states that he has worked in a call-centre and indicates that he tried to become a published author before he started to write fan fiction as a hobby.

Fan Fiction

Gadget in Chains

First Released: Gadget in Chains was written in a serial format with new instalments released at irregular intervals. The first instalment was simultaneously released on the Acorn Cafe's "Story Board" and on FanFiction.net on 02/02/02. The story was also published on his website, which was created in December 2005.

Title Reference: Taken from the Simpsons episode "Marge in Chains" which in turn was taken from the movie title "Women in Chains".

Part of Series: Stand alone story. (Though other fan works are referenced as "in jokes" in the story – e.g. As a little girl Gadget has a doll called Widget, which is the name of her long lost sister in the works of John Nowak.)

Length: 389,000 words at present. (Still unfinished.)

Rating: PG (Note: The author has rated the story as PG on his own website and on Fanfiction.net though some readers feel the story should be PG-13. Many cuts have been made to the version published on the Acorn Café in order to meet the Café's strict content guidelines. The versions on the author's website and FanFiction.net are uncut.)

Synopsis

Lawhiney, Gadget's "evil twin", returns to impersonate Gadget once again. Lawhiney has a near death experience and is warned to change her ways before being returned to Earth with a guardian angel to help reform her. Meanwhile Gadget finds herself tormented by bullying prisoners, corrupt guards and mysterious, demonic figure who seems to be trying to lead her astray. After a dramatic confrontation between the two protagonists, they must resolve their differences and find away to restore order to the lives of the Rescue Rangers.

Goofs

Professor Ratigan's first name is given as "James" in the story. His name is not given in the movie "Basil: The Great Mouse Detective" but the movie is based on a series of books by Eve Titus in which the Professor's first name is Padraic.

The name of Gadget's double is spelt "Lawhiney" throughout the story. There is some confusion as to the correct spelling of this character's name. Lahwhinie, Lahini, Lu'whinii and Luwhinie are just four of the various spellings used on the net and Disney itself has allegedly used inconsistent spellings in different media.

Gadget's father's name is given as Geegaw Hackwrench. The canon does not supply a spelling for the name but it obviously comes from the word "Gewgaw" meaning bauble or trinket. While geegaw is a valid alternate spelling of the word gewgaw according to Merriam Webster On-line, it could easily be the wrong one.
