__NOTOC__==About The Project==

This site is designed to serve as an encyclopedia of sorts for Disney's "Chip 'n' Dale: Rescue Rangers", and its dedicated, prolific, and ever-growing fandom.

It is based on MediaWiki, which in short means that anyone can edit the pages on this site. In the interests of assuring quality (and accountable) content, a [[:Special:Userlogin|user account]] must be created if you want to contribute.

===Who Is Running It?===

This is a Wiki, it's run by its contributors! This means you (probably)! =)

See the [[Help:Contents|help]] page if you need to contact the administrator ([[User:Lance|Lance]]).

==How You Can Help==

Feel free to '''[[Account Request|request an account]]''' and make contributions of your own to this ever-expanding resource. Note that all contributors are required to adhere to a simple set of '''[[rules]]''', and following the [[Content Guides|content guides]] is strongly recommended.

If you're eager to help but you don't know what to work on, have a look at the [[Special:Wantedpages|wanted pages]] and the [[:Category:Incomplete articles|articles labeled incomplete]]. More advanced contributors may have a look at the [[:Category:Stubs|stubs]] if they can expand them and give them a proper layout.

Another good place to start is the list of [[Special:Shortpages|shortest pages]].

==Where Do I Start?!==

You can start browsing the information pages by following the "primary category" links on the [[Main Page|main page]]. You can also enter search queries (such as "Chip", without the quotes) into the search bar on the left.

Some pages on the Ranger Wiki are mirrored at [http://fanhistory.com/ Fan History Wiki] via [http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Help:Interwiki_linking interwiki linking]. See [http://fanhistory.com/wiki/Help:Rescue_Rangers here] for the Fan History Wiki help page regarding the interwiki link.

The Ranger Wiki has a semi-formal relationship with Fan History Wiki. However - beyond the fact that some content is mirrored on both wikis and interwiki linking is enabled - the Ranger Wiki is not in any way associated with Fan History Wiki.

==Interwiki Linking==

The Ranger Wiki has interwiki linking setting up with [http://fanhistory.com/ Fan History Wiki]. Interwiki links can be set up by adding ''fanhistory:'' in front of links designed to point at the [http://fanhistory.com/ Fan History Wiki]. Interwiki links are governed by the [[Rules|Ranger Wiki rules]] regarding external links (see rule #8).

==External Linking==

You are encouraged to cite [http://fanhistory.com/ Fan History Wiki] when documenting the history of the fandom where Fan History Wiki has relevant information. You are also encouraged to add links in the links section of articles where applicable.

==Content Mirroring==

Articles that are mirrored should have the following code put on the top of the article: '''<nowiki>{{FanHistory mirror}}</nowiki>'''

This adds a text box which looks like:

{{FanHistory mirror}}

==Rules==

All [[Rules|local rules]] still apply to mirrored articles. As stated above, Interwiki links are governed by the [[Rules|Ranger Wiki rules]] regarding external links (see rule #8).

=== February 16th, 2009 ===

A subset of articles are beginning to be [[Mirrored Articles|mirrored]] over at [http://fanhistory.com/ Fan History Wiki]. You may notice interwiki links/banners appearing to this effect. See [[Mirrored Articles|here]] to read more about [[Mirrored Articles|mirrored articles]], or [http://fanhistory.com/wiki/Help:Rescue_Rangers here] for the Fan History Wiki help page regarding the interwiki link. '''Local rules still apply for [[Mirrored Articles|mirrored articles]].'''

Some advantages of the mirroring arrangement:

* Increased exposure for articles
* Added redundancy (in case of server failure, etc.)
* Potentially increased local server performance (due to redundancy)

Disadvantages of the mirroring arrangement:

* For [[Mirrored Articles|mirrored articles]], you should - wherever possible - make your changes on both pages (both here and the linked mirror article on [http://fanhistory.com/ Fan History Wiki]). See [[Mirrored Articles]] for details.

==Rule #1: Neutral Point of View==
This '''isn't''' a message board. This is an encyclopedia - a reference document - as such, personal opinion should be avoided wherever possible. Any opinions stated should represent what is considered true by the majority.

'''Addition (28th March, 2008)''': While negative (or positive!) opinions of certain community groups may be held by the majority of your own, please do not make direct comparisons with these other community groups. Let the facts speak for themselves. It is bad form to say, for example: "artwork X is better than artwork Y because 1, 2 and 3", or something like: "forum X is different to forum Y because (insert praise for forum X here)". If you must insert self-praise, please just state facts, e.g. "We have a large community of X members".

Strong emotional language is frowned-upon. Things like "Site X is the ''heart & soul'' of the community". Strong emotional language is '''not''' indicative of neutral point of view. Be proud, but keep cool. Again - the facts should speak for themselves.

==Rule #2: Get Permission==
Permission should always be sought for the reproduction of fan-created works.

This is a simple courtesy to the artists involved, not a copyright issue, given that the works are produced in themselves without permission for the purpose of personal entertainment.

==Rule #3: Keep It Clean==
'''External links may ''not'' be made to material which would bear an R rating. (See rule #8)'''

'''Do NOT reproduce (quote) excerpts of works which (in themselves) would earn a rating higher than 'All Ages' '''

''Please refer to the [[Ratings Guide]] for a description of the different ratings used here.''

Reference material which must cover contentious topics (which cause distress for many people) should be kept mature, brief, clean, and should be presented with neutrality. Such topics include sexual content, violence, drug use and coarse language.

This site should be kept suitable for all ages. Examination of "mature" subject matter that may not be suitable for all ages is acceptable, as long as the examination in of itself is kept clean, and doesn't become an "illustrated" depiction. This also means that curse words will not be used. If you even think about using one, then it is suggested that your current mode of writing is perhaps unsuitable for inclusion on this site in any case.

==Rule #4: Don't Vandalise==
Vandalism, in terms of this wiki, means changing something for reasons beyond the pursuit of accurate, informative, and complete content. Be mature, play nice. If you're uncertain if a change should be made or not, use the discussion page. However, do '''not''' use the discussion pages as off-topic chat rooms, or a place to flame. Keep things clean and polite, or your actions may be considered vandalism.

Think about what you're doing. You should be able to judge for yourself the difference between a valid change and vandalism.

Vandalism will be acted upon quite harshly, so be warned - you'll be unlikely to get a second warning (depending upon the severity of the case in question).

==Rule #5: Spelling and Grammar==
This is '''not''' a chat room.

Contributors should always strive for concise, well constructed English when submitting material to this site.

Only accepted written English contractions and shorthand should be used, if any.

You will include proper punctuation, and double-check it.

You will proofread your submissions '''before''' submitting.

Misspellings and so on can of course still occur, but I cannot stress the importance of proofreading quite enough. The #1 tip for effective proofreading is to '''read it out loud'''.

Contributors who submit changes/articles containing internet shorthand, little or no punctuation, consistent spelling errors, and/or unintelligible garbage will likely receive a couple of warnings, with consequent recurrences resulting in a ban (from contributing, not viewing).

==Rule #6: Keep Images '''Small'''==
*Don't abuse the file upload functionality. This is '''not''' a replacement for other RR image archive sites.
*A full size image must be under around 50kb (and generally should not be larger than 800x600 pixels - preferably smaller, depending on the case).
*If you are uploading an image for use as an icon, please resize the image appropriately before uploading.
*GIF or JPG formats should be used, rather than PNG.
*Images should be used ''sparingly''.
*If larger images are needed, then feel free to link to a (suitable) external page using an external URL.

==Rule #7: Don't Store Fan Creations==
This isn't a storage facility. Suitable fan-fiction, fan art, and other fan creations may be linked to externally, but not stored here. Extending Rule #6... An extremely important piece of fan art may be stored in lower resolution form (800x600 or less), but it would be the only exception to this rule. Under other circumstances, links to external sites should be made.

==Rule #8: External Links==
External links may not be made to material which would bear an R rating (according to the [[Ratings Guide]]). This means, essentially; no links to pages containing explicit violence, language, sexual content, or other offensive materials.
WikiSysophttp://rangerwiki.net/index.php?title=Mirrored_Articles&diff=4843Mirrored Articles2009-02-16T00:00:09Z
WikiSysop:

The Ranger Wiki has a semi-formal relationship with Fan History Wiki. Beyond the fact that some content is mirrored on both wikis and interwiki linking is enabled; the Ranger Wiki is not associated with Fan History Wiki in any way.

==Interwiki Linking==

==External Linking==

You are encouraged to cite [http://fanhistory.com/ Fan History Wiki] when documenting the history of the fandom where Fan History Wiki has relevant information. You are also encouraged to add links in the links section of articles where applicable.

==Content Mirroring==

Articles that are mirrored should have the following code put on the top of the article: '''<nowiki>{{FanHistory mirror}}</nowiki>'''

This adds a text box which looks like:

{{FanHistory mirror}}

==Rules==

All [[Rules|local rules]] still apply to mirrored articles. As stated above, Interwiki links are governed by the [[Rules|Ranger Wiki rules]] regarding external links (see rule #8).

==Rule #1: Neutral Point of View==

==Rule #2: Get Permission==
Permission should always be sought for the reproduction of fan-created works.

This is a simple courtesy to the artists involved, not a copyright issue, given that the works are produced in themselves without permission for the purpose of personal entertainment.

==Rule #3: Keep It Clean==
'''External links may ''not'' be made to material which would bear an R rating.'''

A subset of articles are beginning to be [[Mirrored Articles|mirrored]] over at [http://fanhistory.com/ Fan History Wiki]. You may notice interwiki links/banners appearing to this effect. See [http://fanhistory.com/wiki/Help:Rescue_Rangers here] for the Fan History Wiki help page regarding the interwiki link. '''Local rules still apply for [[Mirrored Articles|mirrored articles]].'''

Some advantages of the mirroring arrangement:

* Increased exposure for articles
* Increased local server performance
* Added redundancy (in case of server failure, etc.)

Due to recent events I have temporarily disabled the creation of new accounts on the Ranger Wiki.

Apparently a small group of vandals have attacked the Acorn Cafe, and had also planned to attack the Wiki.

However, we seem to have avoided any mishaps; entirely thanks to Winston, Midnight Man, Silver Shadow and Alain, who all let me know that something was up. Thanks guys!

I will be investigating options for tightening security for the Wiki, but in the meantime existing members should be unaffected.

==About The Project==

===Who Is Running It?===

This is a Wiki, it's run by its contributors! This means you (probably)! =)

See the [[Help:Contents|help]] page if you need to contact the administrator ([[User:Lance|Lance]]).

==How You Can Help==

==Where Do I Start?!==

You can start browsing the information pages by following the "primary category" links on the [[Main Page|main page]]. You can also enter search queries (such as "Chip", without the quotes) into the search bar on the left.

==Advertise!==

Another way to help the Ranger Wiki grow and improve is letting the world know that this Wiki exists. This can be done fairly easy by placing this banner into one's signature on Internet message boards...

[[Image:RangerWiki.png|The Ranger Wiki banner]]

...and putting a link to the Ranger Wiki on it. Written in BBCode, it would read:

<nowiki>[url=http://rangerwiki.net/][img]http://rangerwiki.net/images/3/36/RangerWiki.png[/img][/url]</nowiki>

''(Of course if you're '''really''' awesome you'll move that image over to a PhotoBucket account or your own site or somesuch... But don't stress too much about it. =) -- [[User:WikiSysop|WikiSysop]] 07:02, 21 March 2007 (PDT))''

==[[Mirrored Articles]]==

Some articles on this site are [[Mirrored Articles|mirrored]] over at [http://fanhistory.com/ Fan History Wiki]. Please note that all local [[rules]] still apply to [[Mirrored Articles|mirrored articles]]. Wherever possible, changes made locally should also be made over on the corresponding (linked) [http://fanhistory.com/ Fan History Wiki] page.
WikiSysophttp://rangerwiki.net/index.php?title=Current_events&diff=4828Current events2009-02-15T23:09:58Z
WikiSysop:

Message from [[User:Lance|Lance]]:

Due to recent events I have temporarily disabled the creation of new accounts on the Ranger Wiki.

Apparently a small group of vandals have attacked the Acorn Cafe, and had also planned to attack the Wiki.

However, we seem to have avoided any mishaps; entirely thanks to Winston, Midnight Man, Silver Shadow and Alain, who all let me know that something was up. Thanks guys!

I will be investigating options for tightening security for the Wiki, but in the meantime existing members should be unaffected.

The Ranger Wiki is officially open to the public!

==About==
I am the host and head administrator of The Ranger Wiki.

I'm no longer active in the fan community, but I intend to keep this site running indefinitely.

You can email me anytime at: genesysgen2@gmail.com
WikiSysophttp://rangerwiki.net/index.php?title=Rules&diff=4765Rules2008-11-27T09:46:59Z
WikiSysop:

==Rule #1: Neutral Point of View==

==Rule #2: Get Permission==
Permission should always be sought for the reproduction of fan-created works.

This is a simple courtesy to the artists involved, not a copyright issue, given that the works are produced in themselves without permission for the purpose of personal entertainment.

==Rule #3: Keep It Clean==
'''External links may ''not'' be made to material which would bear an R rating.'''

==Rule #4: Don't Vandalise==

==Rule #5: Spelling and Grammar==

==Rule #6: Keep Images '''Small'''==

==Rule #7: Don't Store Fan Creations==
WikiSysophttp://rangerwiki.net/index.php?title=The_Fandom&diff=4106The Fandom2008-03-29T07:47:55Z
WikiSysop: Just a quick disclaimer.

==About==

'''What is the Acorn Cafe?'''

The Acorn Cafe is presently the largest focal point of the [[Rescue Rangers|Rescue Ranger]] Fan Community. Though it serves as a place where most of the members of the community can display their art and stories the point can also be made that the primary function of the Acorn Cafe is to serve as an assembly or meeting hall for the fans to come together and joke and communicate in a relaxed and supportive environment.

'''What is it like there?'''

Inside the fandom the Acorn Cafe has taken on the collective mental image of being a proverbial café, complete with drinks, tables, booths, and a comfy couch in front of a 46-inch LCD television. Further revisions have included such additions as the stairwell from the RMS ''Titanic'' and an archival library. However, every patron has got another picture of the Cafe and its facilities in their imagination, so answers to this question tend to differ.

'''What does it look like?'''

Though it has had several guises over the decade or so it has been around, the Acorn Cafe exists today as a phpBB styled board, complete with all of the features that style of construction allows.

The board itself is divided into several sections.

The RRt (art) Board is a place where community members can post their latest pieces for comment and display and also in the hope of getting assistance with final revisions.

The Off-Topic section is a place where members of the fandom can converse about everyday topics not specifically related to the Rescue Rangers. The conversations are always polite, usually witty, and every so often...enlightening.

The Story Board is for those members of the community with a talent for writing to display their works. Some of the most noted pieces of Rescue Ranger [[Fan fiction|fan-fiction]] have been first posted for the world to enjoy on the Acorn Cafe, a trait that continues in this section.

The Acorn Cafe board is the namesake for which the entire site is named. Here members of the fandom discuss issues raised by the canon, inform each other about Rescue Ranger news, and share humor based on the series.

The Cafe Foyer is the most recent addition to the Cafe, and is used to welcome new members to the board. The welcome threads allow members to introduce themselves, and their fursonas (if any.) Oftentimes, they feature "welcoming salutes," featuring both paintballs and liberal amounts of confetti (and even battleships).

Once every year since 2002, the Cafe hosts the [[Golden Acorn Awards]].

'''Who runs this place?'''

Since moving to phpBB, the Acorn Cafe is run by the admins [[Stephen Clouse|Stephen C]] (aka Chairman Kaga) and [[Stephen Hamrick|Dr. Indy]].

'''Who can join the Acorn Cafe?'''

The Acorn Cafe is open to all whom share an interest in [[The TV Show|Chip 'n Dale Rescue Rangers]], though even this requirement is not written in stone. Several members had no true knowledge of the series before joining but today are just as dedicated to the series and fandom as any other!

'''What are the rules?'''

See [[#Rules|below]].

===1998===
February 8: A message board called "Chip 'n Dale Rescue Rangers", later to be known as The Acorn Cafe, is launched at Inside The Web, led by [[Natasha Kashefipour]], then 14 years old. Before this date, the Usenet was the only online meeting-point for [[Rangerphile|Rangerphiles]].

February 14: The young Acorn Cafe becomes a battle location when the [[St. Valentine's Day Massacre]] goes off.
==Rules==

Like almost any internet forum, the Acorn Cafe has a set of rules which you must adhere to. The following is taken from the official rule thread [http://www.theacorncafe.org/phpbb/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=10520], as it stood at the 28th of March, 2008:

1. No Personal Attacks. You will not post anything that is defamatory, libelous, unnecessarily antagonistic, or an invasion of privacy or violation of the rights of another user, person, or party.

2. No Inappropriate Posts. You will not post anything that is obscene, abusive, harassing, threatening, unintelligible, or otherwise inappropriate, as determined by the moderators.

3. No Sexually Related Discussion. You will not request, link to, or post information about or references to RR pornography or erotica. You will not post anything relating to homosexuality, homosexual relationships, trans-gender relationships, alternative sexual lifestyles, or any other topic deemed sexually inappropriate by the moderators.

4. No Profanity. This board is intended for all ages. You will not make use of profane language. Mild terms like "(bleep)", "heck", "darn/dammit", "ticked off", and "sucks" are considered in violation of this policy. The moderators reserve the right to delete or edit any posts that violate this policy.

5. No Mature/Adult Material On Rangerphile Sites. You will not post direct links from these forums to any mature/adult material or any site containing such material. The decision of what is "mature/adult" is the at the moderators' discretion.

6. No Inappropriate Depictions Of Characters. You will not post fanart, stories, or other works that depict RR characters involved in drug or alcohol use, sexual situations, or graphic violence. Such posts may be removed by the moderators if deemed to be in extremely poor taste.

7. No Abuse of Round Robin Stories. Round Robin Stories are defined as stories posted on the Acorn Cafe boards by two or more persons with the idea of creating a cumulative storyline. These stories must remain within Cafe limits of content at all times, or they will be subject to termination or removal with or without warning. Those participating in the stories must adhere to Cafe rules of behavior (no personal attacks, etc). Participants, who, in the determination of the moderators are purposefully derailing, undermining or curtailing round robins for their own ends will be warned or removed at the moderators' discretion.

8. User Liability For Posts. You agree that you are fully responsible and legally liable for any content that is posted through the use of your username and password. Do not share your username or password with any other person.

9. Avatar and Signature Restrictions. Avatars are not to exceed either 150 pixels wide by 200 pixels high, or 50Kb. Signature dimensions must be no more than 550 pixels in width, 15 lines of normal sized text in length, and are not to exceed 150Kb. Limits for signatures are also cumulative, meaning that even if you have more than one item in your signature, the cumulative dimensions for everything are not to exceed either 550 pixels, 15 lines, or a filesize of 150Kb.

10. Trivial Conversations/Hijacking Threads. Moderators reserve the right to delete or modify any trivial discussion that takes on the nature of a chat session. The definition of such a chat will be determined by the moderators, but could include any lengthy discussion between only two or three people, or a discussion that begins on-topic but is "hijacked" and then becomes a chat. Such practices clutter the forums, making it difficult for others to enjoy the boards.

11. Ranger Video Links. Posting of links to sites exhibiting online video of the Rangers (such as BitTorrent and other file-sharing sites) is discouraged. Such posts will be deleted, as they represent a serious copyright violation and could be used to penalize the owner of the Cafe's server as well as the person(s) who posted. Posting YouTube material (or such material from similar sites) is okay as long as it's a true derivative work (fan-made), done in good taste and isn't the actual reproduction of an episode. Video viewers be aware that the Related Videos on YouTube sites aren't under the control of the person posting, so there may be content issues there. Video posters are encouraged to seek out content-friendly video hosting sites.

12. Use of Cookies and Private Information. Your IP address is recorded for any action you initiate on these forums. This forum system uses cookies to store information on your local computer. These cookies do not contain any of the information you have entered for your profile; they serve only to improve your viewing pleasure. Your e-mail address is used only for confirming your registration details and password (and for sending new passwords should you forget your current one). You agree to any information you enter in your profile being stored in a database. While this information will not be disclosed to any third party without your consent, the webmaster, administrator and moderators cannot be held responsible for any hacking attempt that may lead to the data being compromised.

13. All Rights Reserved. You agree that the webmaster, administrator and moderators of this forum have the right to remove, edit, move or close any topic at their discretion.

==About==
'''''Chip 'n' Dale Online''''', or "CnD Online," is a forum concerning itself both with [[The TV Show|CDRR]] and the classic Chip 'n' Dale cartoons. It was created by [[Ducky]] who still maintains it and launched on February 2, 2006. The forum's atmosphere is quite laid-back, large signatures are a rarity, and the topics discussed have a wide range (arguably due to the inclusion of the classic Chip 'n' Dale cartoons).

The site itself beyond the forum serves as a resource concerned with the classic cartoons as well as the CDRR shows. There is also an ever-growing gallery of user-submitted images to peruse, a large selection of sound bytes and theme songs from the shows, and even a small selection of videos from both CDRR and the classic Chip 'n' Dale shows.

Before the upgrade to phpBB3 on December 6, 2007, one of Chip 'n' Dale Online's outstanding features used to be a built-in, categorized gallery on which registered members could upload and present their creations such as fan art and [[fan fiction]].
== Rules ==

Like almost any internet forum, Chip 'n' Dale Online has a set of rules which you must adhere to. The following is taken from the official rule thread [http://chipndaleonline.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=23], as it stood at the 28th of March, 2008:

Keep things as clean as possible (this especially applies to fan art and fan fiction). I don't want to censor what can and cannot be shared, but I don't want to give Disney any legitimate reasons to send over a cease and desist letter, either.

Try to remain civil. A good heated debate is just fine, but flame wars that degrade into personal insults are not.

I do not want to see any bickering or quarreling between members on the public forums. If you have a problem with someone, you can take it up with them in private, or contact one of the moderators.

This is NOT a *chan, so I do not want to see any further chan-esque images or memes showing up in the public forums. Any posts or images made for the sole purpose of being "shocking" or offensive will be deleted.

From this point on, any bashing of the Acorn Cafe or its members will NOT be tolerated.

==About==

'''What is the Acorn Cafe?'''

The Acorn Cafe is the largest of the two main focal points of the [[Rescue Rangers|Rescue Ranger]] Fan Community.

==About==
I am currently the head administrator of The Ranger Wiki... More by default than anything else, since I initiated it (after Wikipedia removed several articles pertaining to [[CDRR]]) and provide the hosting for it.

I also occasionally draw shoddy fan-art, some of which you can see in my [http://lanceburns.com/gallery/main.php?g2_itemId=17 "Disney Stuff" album] in the [http://lanceburns.com/gallery/main.php gallery] on my [http://www.lanceburns.com/ website].

Rescue Rangers was one of my favourite TV shows back in the day, but until 2005 I had all but forgotten about it. Then one day I stumbled across and consequently read [[Chris Fischer|Chris Fischer's]] [[Chris Fischer#Of Mice and Mayhem|Of Mice and Mayhem]], and I went on a nice little journey of rediscovery; along the way becoming a member of the [[CDRR]] fan community, and making some new friends. =)

And that's pretty much the whole story. =)
